About Me
I suppose I will start by saying my name is Red, my real
name is Alana but I'm more used to people calling me Red. I have
been Red for over 7 years now, online. I am a 23, soon to be 24 year old
female from Toronto, Ontario Canada (No, it is not always cold here!).
Now how I came to be called Red...long story short... First of all there
is this great book about a female Utahraptor (yes, a dinosaur) named
Raptor Red by Robert T. Bakker. Just about 7 years back, way back in May
1999, I was playing a game called AVP Gold. Me and a friend decided to
start our own clan and both being fans of the book we based it on that
and I adopted the name RR_DF_RaptorRed to which I am known to this day.
My philosphy in life is No Regrets, you can't change the past but you
can learn from your mistakes, and Be kind and helpful to others for you
may need their kindness and help someday in return. And a favourite
quote from a great book series by Terry Goodkind, "We can all only
be who we are, no more, no less."
Friends
Jon - My boyfriend =) who
I've known now for at least 6 years if not longer. Met him through a
common friend in AVP Gold when they both joined my clan. I love him more
than anything. He is my Sadistic_Dragon and I love my dragon =D.
Ron - One of my greatest friends ever. He
is always there for me, I have gotten him hooked on many of my own
interests (mwhahaha) such as Pink Floyd, Rocky Horror, Phantom of the
Paradise, Third Watch, AVP, Diablo2 ... and there is more that I'm
forgetting. We also share many of the same values which is nice in a
world where values and morals seem to be on the decline. Also have a
band, Angelona, which will one day record something once we can overcome
distance or recording online.
Alexis - Alexis... my stalker. She
originally hunted me down after finding some of my Phantom of the
Paradise drawings on deviantart and she has become a great friend. She
shares my artistic spirit in all mediums as well as my devotion to
Phantom of the Paradise and Rocky Horror.
Heroes/Idols
Roger Waters - Former
bassist, lead lyricist, composer, and singer of Pink Floyd. A true
social-commentator, he is not afraid to point out what is wrong with the
world in his songs and try to change it with charity work. His main
cause is against wars of any kind. In 1990 he staged a massive concert,
one of the biggest if not the biggest ever held, in Berlin where the
Berlin Wall used to stand with all benefits from the concert going to
The War Memorial Fun for Disaster Relief.
William Finley - He played the Phantom in
the great cult movie Phantom of the Paradise. Such a tragic character
that draws such sympathy for his plight, being played and used by an
evil man.
Bill Nighy - What can I say! An amazingly
great actor. Ranging from a dubious man forced into believing in fairies
in Fairy Tale : A True Story, to a hairdressor who cheats in a
hairdressing competition in Blow Dry, to a strong, stern vampire leader
with a heart of stone in Underworld, to a seemingly harsh, yet loving
step-father (who becomes a zombie!) in Shaun of the Dead, to the creator
of worlds, Slartibartfast in Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, to (yes
I'm almost done) Davy Jones in the upcoming Pirates of the Caribbean :
Dead Man's Chest.
Jean Grey - And here begins my list of
fictional heroes. Jean Grey. I grew up watching the great cartoon, which
as far as I can tell, runs parallel to the storylines in the comic books
(the last movie had nothing to do with any of the storylines). Jean is a
determined and strong character with a deep love for Cyclops aka Scott
Summers. Jean was also voiced by a great canadian actress named
Catherine Disher, who was one of the main characters in the great show,
Forever Knight.
Kahlan Amnell - Kahlan Amnell is one of the
2 main characters from the Terry Goodkind book series Sword of Truth.
The quote I mentioned above in the first section is her quote. She is
the Mother Confessor of the Midlands, a position which means she is the
final arbiter of truth, a warrior for her people, the people of the
Midlands and the innocent. She is deeply in love (yes, I suppose I have
a thing about people who love, it shows their true character) with
Richard Rahl and they both fight to preserve life and protect the
innocent. Values which I, myself hold dear.
Hobbies
Oh, hobbies... so many.....
I make 3D models for games, I skin/texture for the avp2 community, I
sketch in pencil, I paint in acrylics. I am self-taught in electric bass
and guitar. I enjoy making pictures with Photoshop. I create props and
costumes using cardboard, tape and paint (they look better than it would
seem.. I think). Basically, if its any kind of art, I probably do it or
have at least tried it. I am what I call.. an art'ee'st. My personality
and lifestyle is that of an artist. It is not something I choose to do,
or even just enjoy doing. It is something I MUST do.
Movies
... I am so a movie person it's not funny so I'll just
list some of my more favourites.. If I was to explain them all the page
would go on forever. Now in no particular order (except for the first 2)
